Commentary On “Medical Marijuana On The Job”

I am in favor of decriminalizing marijuana or legalizing it so it can be regulated and taxed. Medical marijuana is a joke. Many other medications are just as effective and safer. The list of illnesses for which medical marijuana is prescribed is the same list seen in turn of the century magazines for magnets and snake oil. Drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana marijuana on the job is not acceptable. There is no evidence that people develop tolerance to marijuana's effects on judgment More

Views On “Tweets, Plays Well w/Others: A Perfect M.B.A. Candidate”

As a former military Officer with an MBA, I actually experienced a bias against military experience during some interviews when coming out of school. There are those who have seen too many movies and expect veterans to become Rambo or R. Lee Ermey in stressful situations. It wasn't until I let the military experience on my resume keywords' speak for itself and talked about experiences in the civilian world (even though the level of responsibility was far below what I had in the military), More

Commentary On “No Summer Fun for Ben Bernanke at Jackson Hole”

Ben Bernanke, Obama's boss, is trying to figure out how to get Obama re-elected and stim the bossulate his Banks at the same time. Tough. If Ben 'stimulates' his Banker buddies some more, Oil will go up and Obama will get kicked out. If a republican comes to power, Bernanke himself will get kicked out. On the other hand, to bring Oil down, Bernanke has to stop stimulating his Banker buddies, and in the incestuous relationship that Bernanke has with the Banks, that is difficult. Banks More

Thoughts On “Review & Outlook: AARP’s Revelation”

great the people i see talking on here must be Health working people...well im not ..im partly disabled and make $918 a month ssd..that's not enough already to live on and your talking about he should cut it..lol wish you were in my shoes so i could tell you that and see what you would have to say then. lets put it off on the poor and leave the rich a lone..makes sense to me NOT. i make so little if i wanted to but a car i couldn't..i have enough money to pay my bills and that's about More

Analysis On “Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior”

Can't argue with the success of her method, but she doesn't acknowledge the different variables in this situation. If she was a Western Mother using this method she would be branded a nutcase. Her over involvement in her children's lives obviously (and admittedly) involves stunting her childrens social development in children development. My good friend Anh is vietnamese, is 20 year's old, and still can't make decisions in her own life due to her parent's controlling nature. She is More

Opinion On “Board Floats Voucher Plan”

James, it is indeed easier to get funding through coercion than persuasion, but it is immoral. The funding for schools comes from people, and people can pay for their own children's education and donate to schools as they see fit. Family value conservatives should welcome a free market in schools, since this gives them the opportunity to select schools that meet their needs. The values of the government are those that favor itself and special needs schools interests, such as unions. More

An Opinion On “Mormons Duck Political Duel”

To Ryan: yep, that's what we believe. Even Hitler and Obama. You see, we believe that we all lived first as spirits, and at the appointed time were sent here to have a human experience, part of which is a cogat test. Seems like Hitler failed the test. I know that's not the same as what you believe, but it's what we mean by our being children of God. We don't mean that someone can only become God's child after birth. We mean that we all started out as literal spirit children who now More

My Analysis On “Alan Blinder: A Tale of Two Downgrades”

David, I'm not sure where you're getting your data, but it's spurious at best. Looking at total gross revenue, Federal revenue, interest expense is about 10%. Perhaps you're talking about income tax revenue, which would make more sense. It's as clear as evidence I've ever seen that our Federal income taxes are too low. Perhaps we could model our taxes after the way they do it in Texas: confiscate a portion of everyone's real estate wealth every year, including corporations, plus tax More

Thoughts On “For Many Seniors, There May Be No Retirement”

people live longer and so draw from s/s for a longer period.. the average age when s/s was passed into law was about 68....today approx 78. ...many people in those days before S/S such as my grandfather relied on pensions and lived frugally if you were fortunate enough to work for a firm that provided it that is..............many today perhaps counted on S/S to provide all their needs in retirement years although were repeatedly told that this is not so....to rely on S/S checks alone More

A Response To “Expats in Japan Tiptoe Back to Work”

It seems sensible to me to leave Tokyo while there is disruption. If you are in a place with fewer resources (including electricity) than would typically be required to support the people there, it seems rational to move to where the resources are plentiful. The concept of loyalty until you die is working against common sense. I think this is a good article to see how the cultural aspects influence what is going on. I do think this is important enough for the front page, as this is More
